What is a Quest?

Turn a Walk
into a Quest!

The South Shore of Boston has many outdoor quests for families and friends to enjoy. Each quest is an outdoor trail where you can enjoy nature while looking for clues.

Adventure for All Ages

You can find hidden parks, ponds, rivers and forests while on a quest, bringing you to new places in the South Shore area. All trails are appropriate for young children and some are marked for handicap access.

How it Works

Each quest has a marked beginning point and instructions that lead you from one location to the next along a trail. At each location you search for a clue in the form of a letter. Assemble all the letters to find the last clue – a box filled with a small guest book, a stamp pad, a rubber stamp, and answers to questions asked by curious “Questers”.

Be sure to stamp your own quest book using the stamp located in the box. Many set a goal each season to get a stamp from every quest trail!

Earn a Patch

Questers who have conquered six (6) Quests are eligible to receive a South Shore Quests Patch. Send a photocopy of your stamp pages and $3.00 per patch to: Eleanor Kilham, 84 Cushing St., Hingham, MA 02043. Please make check out to South Shore Quests and include:
· the number of patches earned
· the names (and ages) of those who have earned the patch
· mailing address to send the patches to

Questers who have completed every Quest in the Qbook will be entered into a drawing to receive a certificate for a complimentary quest book.

Who Organizes Quests?

Each spring, volunteers place the clues and boxes along the trails where they remain until late fall. Please let us know if a clue or clue box is missing by sending an email to admin@southshorequests.org
